2018 has been a year of visuals, videos and photographs.

I have really struggled to get into the habit of taking my photographs. It does not come naturally to me, but with a continuing rise of Instagram and the sheer volume of content creation, good visuals continue to be increasingly important.

We all walk around with a camera in our pocket. Our smartphone. So, in theory, we should have more opportunities to take more photographs. I have been trying to just take as many photographs as possible (a resolution once again for 2019 as I didn’t do it as well as I would have liked) and then sorted them out afterwards.

Review your old photographs (and use them)

A perfect end of year/beginning of new year activity is to review the photographs that you have taken. Start by organising (I sort them into folders) and tagging them.

If you have photographs that you have not used but can allocate (e.g. to a social media feed) then do so and have them ready to use now or at a later date. If you know what you are going to use them for – schedule them in advance to save you time later.

Alternatively, you might have some good photos but you don’t have any ideas what you could use them for yet. I file these in a separate folder – and tag them with a description so that they are ready to be used at a future day when I am looking for a decent photograph.
